(April 8, 3:01 p.m.) The late Robert Grimm and his deceased brother, Rod Grimm, were honored posthumously April 10 as Distinguished Agriculturalists of the Year by the California Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Robert Grimm died in 2006. Rod Grimm died in 1998. Together they built Grimmway Enterprises Inc., Bakersfield, Calif., into a carrot grower-packer-shipper giant. The brothers founded Grimmway Farms in 1968 in Anaheim, Calif. They moved the company to Bakersfield in 1971 and formed Grimmway Enterprises. The award was presented to the families of the two men at the society’s Spring Outlook in Bakersfield.
