Robbery arrest

Details:On 3-6-11 at 1700 hours deputies took a report of an armed robbery at Desert and Poplar St. in Rosamond. During the investigation deputies from the Rosamond Substation identified a suspect named Euriei Brim, age 28 from Rosamond. Brim had fled the Rosamond area after the robbery. The case was submitted to the District Attorney’s office and an arrest warrant was issued for Brim. Deputies from the Rosamond Substation worked with the Sheriff’s Gang Unit to locate Brim. On 5-20-11 Deputies discovered Brim was living at a location in the Los Angles area. Deputies contacted the LAPD and provided them with Brim’s current address. Officers from LAPD were able to locate Brim and arrest him. Brim was booked on the Kern County arrest warrant at the LA county jail. Brim was arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, participate in a criminal street gang, and conspiracy. Brim is being held on $ 300,000.00 bail

Arrest in April 30th Homicide

Today, homicide detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, along with the assistance of investigators from Kern County Juvenile Probation, arrested a 16 year old Hispanic male juvenile in connection with the April 30th murder of Gerardo Villapudua which occurred in the 700 block of South H Street in Bakersfield. The juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall for PC 187 (murder), 182 (conspiracy), and 186.22 (participation in a criminal street gang). He is the fifth suspect who has been arrested in this case. No other suspects are outstanding.

Assault with a deadly weapon arrest

On 5-19 11 at 1130 hours Deputies responded to the 2600 Blk. of 25th St. West in Rosamond to a report of a subject brandishing a knife. When Deputies arrived they contacted the victim Richard Morman, age 27 of Rosamond. Morman reported that Robert Colvin, age 30 of Rosamond had assaulted him with a knife. Morman also reported that another subject Ruben Rodriguez, age 27 of Rosamond was involved in the argument that led up to the assault and assisted Colvin. Deputies located Colvin and Rodriguez and arrested both subjects. Colvin was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon, and a parole violation. Rodriguez was arrested as an accessory to the assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a deadly weapon. Both subjects were book at the Kern County jail. Morman was not injured during the assault.

Sheriff’s Office narcotic units seize 6 pounds of methamphetamine and arrest 6 adults for narcotic charges.

On May 17, 2011 at approximately 1400 hours officers from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, California Multi-jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team (Cal-MMET) with the assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit (MVU); the Kern Narcotic Enforcement Team (KNET); the Gang Suppression Section Investigation unit; and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), concluded an extensive narcotic investigation. During this investigation, officers negotiated the purchase of a large quantity of narcotics. As a result of this multi-month investigation, 6 adults were arrested for narcotic trafficking and conspiracy. Approximately 6 pounds of methamphetamine were seized. The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of over $272,000.00. Two vehicles were seized for asset forfeiture, the vehicles are valued at approximately $8000.00. Those arrested were: 1). Rafael Hernandez – Hispanic male; D.O.B. 1-13-93, 18 years old, from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. 2). Christian Arredondo – Hispanic male; D.O.B. 3-1-01, 19 years old, from Hemet, CA. 3). Ramon Jilberto Ramos – Hispanic male; D.O.B. 8-23-91, 19 years old, from Paramount, CA. 4). Luis Fernando Almanza – Hispanic male; D.O.B. 3-12-69, 42 years old, from Sinaloa, Mexico. 5). Oscar Obeso Esparza – Hispanic male; D.O.B. 7-17-59, 51 years old, from Moreno Valley, CA. 6). Corenza Veronica Cambon – Hispanic female; D.O.B. 7-9-46, 64 years old, from Perris, CA. The adults were booked into the Central Receiving Facility for possession of methamphetamine; transportation of methamphetamine; possession of methamphetamine for sales; attempt to possess marijuana for sales; and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony

Peace Officer Memorial Week is Sunday May 15th through Saturday May 21st, 2011. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a memorial ceremony on Tuesday May 17th at 10:00 a.m. to honor Sheriff’s Office personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the people of Kern County. The ceremony will be held at the Sheriff’s Office Peace Officer Memorial at the Sheriff’s Headquarters Facility, 1350 Norris Rd. in Bakersfield. The public is welcome to join us in paying tribute to those members of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office who have given their life in the line of duty.

Change to Lerdo Minimum Facility Visiting Schedule

Effective Saturday, May 14th, the hours for visiting at the Lerdo Minimum Facility will be changed to 30 minutes earlier as follows: Saturday: males with their last name starting with the letter A-H begin at 7:30 AM Saturday: males with their last name starting with the letter I-R begin at 12:30 PM Sunday: males with their last name starting with the letter S-Z begin at 7:30 AM Sunday: all Female Minimum inmates begin at 12:30 PM Visitors will be allowed a one hour visit. The last sign up for visiting will be at 9:00 AM and 2:PM.

Missing subject in the Bean Canyon area located

Details: On 5-11-11 at approximately 2100 hours, deputies from the Rosamond Substation were called to the area of Backus Road and Tehachapi Willows Springs Road to search for a subject identified as Daniel Alexander Hamilton, age 31, from Hollywood, CA. Hamilton’s employer reported Hamilton was working in the mountainous area of Bean Canyon and traveling in an off road vehicle. Volunteers from the Desert Search and Rescue Team, the Tehachapi Search and Rescue Team, the Mounted Search and Rescue Team, and a sheriff’s helicopter went to the area to assist with the search for Hamilton. Hamilton and the vehicle were found on 5-12-11 at approximately 1330 hours down in a steep ravine in Bean Canyon. It appeared Hamilton had been involved a single vehicle accident and had died as a result. A sheriff’s helicopter was used to recover Hamilton and transport him out of the ravine. Officers from the California Highway Patrol came to the scene to investigate the off road accident.

Deputy Shoots pitbull after being attacked and bitten under the arm

On May 10, 2011 at approximately 4:45 p.m., deputies from the Taft Substation responded to the 100 block of Eastern Avenue in South Taft to assist the Taft Police Department with an investigation. During the investigation, a Taft Substation deputy was attacked by a large pitbull and was bitten underneath his right arm. After being bitten, the deputy fired his handgun striking the dog. The dog died at the scene. The deputy was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.

Victim of a shooting

On 05/10/2011 at around 0030 hours, deputies were sent to the California Inn at 1030 Wible Road for a report of shots fired. When deputies arrived they found 34-year-old Frank Garcia III lying in front of a room suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Garcia was taken to an area hospital for treatment. An unknown male suspect entered the room where Garcia was staying and opened fire striking Garcia several times. The male suspect fled and was not located. The investigation is ongoing. Garcia was later listed in critical but stable condition.
